April Founder’s Letter

It is that time of year again the Second Annual Lorenzo Washington Day Gala is Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel.

The Gala celebrates music, dedication, commitment and passion. The Gala recognizes and honors individuals and groups for their significant musical achievements professionally and within their communities, locally and globally.

The Gala celebrates the owning of our history; we reflect on the Historic Jefferson Street with the history of self-reliance, financial prosperity, educational enlightenment, a cultural oasis, spiritual awareness, vibrant footprints, a musically talented and influential community.

We are honoring Lady Corder Chapman, Tyrone “ Super T “ Smith,

Charles “ Wigg” Walker, Noble Blackwell and Dr. Bobby Jones.

Join us as we celebrate their many contributions!

Please come and tour the Museum as we continue to ensure that our history, our sound and our culture is visible and thriving.

Exit 207: The Soul of Nashville

"Exit 207: The Soul of Nashville” tells the story of Jefferson Street in North Nashville, a proud and resilient community that thrived during the Civil Rights Era, was deeply affected by the construction of Interstate 40 and is now fostering the future identity of Nashville’s Black community.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed visiting your establishment, we truly appreciate you guys allowing us to visit after hours. The stories that you and Lorenzo shared were truly inspiring. We certainly want to come visit you guys again.

High school students from the Vanderbilt University Summer Camp tour the Jefferson Street Sound Museum.

Students were from all over the United States: Washington State, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Indiana, Puerto Rico, Iowa, Wisconsin, Florida, and Washington D.C.
